December 4th, 2039. Drastic measures: Record of Six Star General Sarah Yui.
With the expectation of World War III upon us and China’s recent threats, a meeting was called between the Military, Senate, President, and I to put a plan in place. The highest rank in the military known to the public at the time was the Five Star General, then there was me. The Six star general. Only the president and other Five-Star generals had !!!clearance to have knowledge of my position. It was my duty to create the plans for every strategic play in the war and present them to the board. There was a secret base were China kept their nuclear missiles along with their top scientists working on a new device meant to instantly disintegrate any DNA that matched the set pattern in the computer. If they were able to successfully finish the weapon we would stand no chance. I devised an attack plan that involved sacrificing tens of thousands of units by attacking the base from every direction, while a special ops team and I used the experimental cloaking equipment our scientists were working on to penetrate the base from above and detonate the nuclear missiles from inside. It was a risky plan and if executed correctly, the combined blast of the 87 bombs would alter the plates of the earth and obliterate all of China. Being the only option that ensured their bombs would never reach the U.S. it was accepted.
I made sure everyone in my team was ready. I went over the plans with them again, going through every detail there is. The night before the special op, I barely slept. All I could think about is making sure every step of the plan is perfect and not mess up anything. Even with my long years of experience, this is the only time I’ve been worried about a mission. I could probably die. That thought hit me like a train. Was I ready to die? Is there more things in life to experience? I kept on thinking about these questions for long time but eventually I went to sleep. It was 4 am sharp. I got up and changed immediately and went to the air force base. I greeted my team and gave them the last words of encouragement. Most of them were really excited and ready to fight for their country, but Jude, one of my most trusted person, didn’t look so good. I checked in on him and he said everything is fine. I didn’t follow through too much but it was on my mind.
“Start the planes! We must leave now if we are to make it to the target on time.” I yelled. Everyone stood up and went to work immediately. “Jude, get the artillery in! What’s gotten into you?”. Then as he looked at me with his dead clouded eyes, I knew he wasn’t looking at me. He was looking in a place were only the dead could peer back. Jude stood from his slouch and sluggishly went to work.
The roar of the planes echoed throughout the hanger. Today was the day we strike the Chinese down and end the war. If I succeed I can finally return home, after 10 years of fighting I can finally return home. I watched until the last box of ammo was loaded onto the plane.
“Attention!” I yelled. The soldiers sprinted and stood in an orderly line. “This mission will determine the fate of the war, thousands more will die if we do not succeed. We must succeed if any of you maggots want to see your families again! Now lets go out there and give the enemy hell!”.
“Yes mam!” the soldiers yelled in unison.
At that moment I ordered everyone to load up on the plane, I sat myself in the front so I could receive direct intel from the cockpit and give orders to the rest of the plane. I quickly gazed over the plane before we took off. Everyone was sitting with their heads hung low. I saw one man, John Hanson, staring at a picture of some girl. The troops were as silent as a graveyard.
